Ashdoui is a weaving technique used by the nomads of the Sahara and the Siroua pre-Saharan massif in the Anti Atlas.

This technique makes the carpet stronger and more resistant to the nomads’ travels. It’s a sturdy carpet that keeps warm in winter too, and it’s the same technique they use for bournous and djellabas.
Made of pure wool and always the work of nomadic women.
I have the privilege of meeting the women of Siroua through my work as a mountain guide.
We were able to come up with this idea, which enabled us to make these beautiful carpets.

Description

Ashdoui is an ancestral weaving technique used by the nomads of the Sahara and the Siroua pre-Saharan massif in the Anti-Atlas. This method gives carpets exceptional strength, making them capable of withstanding the rigors of nomadic travel while providing ideal thermal insulation for cold winters. The same technique is used to make bournous and djellabas, guaranteeing warmth and durability. These rugs are made from pure wool and are still the work of nomadic women. I had the privilege of meeting these talented Siroua weavers through my work as a mountain guide. Our collaboration gave rise to the idea of creating these magnificent rugs, combining tradition and innovation. Each rug, measuring 2 m by 3 m, can be washed at 30°C. These unique pieces can be customized according to your color and size preferences, testifying to exceptional craftsmanship and a rich artisan tradition.
